If you're between 15 and 45 and want a funded trip to Paris to sit in rooms with ambassadors and sign a youth declaration, the Global Youth Impact Summit 2027 is built for you. It runs 25 to 28 March 2027, offers 160 delegate seats, and has a fully funded tier that includes accommodation and airfare support, with no IELTS or TOEFL required. It is not a degree program, and "fully funded" comes with a $16.99 fee and some fine print we'll go through below.

Who is eligible
The criteria are unusually open. You need to be between 15 and 45 and be passionate about the SDGs, diplomacy, mediation or peace work. That's it for hard requirements.
What's not required: a specific degree or field, a language certificate, or a minimum GPA. The page says selection is on motivation, leadership potential and commitment, not credentials. Students, lawyers, doctors, journalists, founders, activists and civil servants are all named as welcome.
Open eligibility cuts both ways. It means you don't need a perfect transcript, but it also means the applicant pool isn't filtered by anything except your written answers. If you're 15 to 17, check the official page or email the organizer about guardian consent and travel rules. The page doesn't address this.
What it covers
The three scholarship tiers differ more than the names suggest:
- Fully Funded: accommodation during the summit, airfare support, all meals, delegate kit, visa invitation letter, one institutional visit (UNESCO, OECD or Versailles, still to be confirmed), the diplomatic reception, signatory status on the Paris Youth Declaration 2027, and a CGAD certificate.
- Partially Funded: the same programme, meals and accommodation, but you arrange your own flight.
- Funded Forum Access: the programme and meals only. You arrange both flight and accommodation.
Pay attention to the wording "airfare support." The organizer's own FAQ says this isn't necessarily the full fare, and the exact amount is only confirmed in your award letter. For a trip from South Asia, Africa or Latin America, that gap could be several hundred dollars, so don't budget as if the ticket is free. Ask what the support amount typically is before you pay anything.
For Partially Funded and Funded Forum Access, the page doesn't state a fee, only that amounts are confirmed in the award letter.
How to apply, step by step
Today is early October, so you have about 16 weeks before the 27 January deadline. Here's a realistic order of work:
- Read the official page and refund policy (30 minutes). Start at the link at the bottom of this article. Read the refund policy page too, since the fee is non-refundable.
- Check your passport (10 minutes). Schengen visas generally require a passport valid for months beyond your trip. If yours expires before mid-2027, renew first.
- Draft your written responses offline (a few evenings). The page doesn't publish the exact questions or word limits, so look at the application form first, then write in a document and paste in. Reviewers score on clarity and substance, so specific beats polished. One real project you ran, with numbers (people reached, money raised, duration), will outweigh a paragraph of SDG vocabulary.
- Connect your experience to one of the six pillars. The 2027 theme covers the SDGs, youth-led development, peace-building, inclusive growth, resilient leadership, and mediation and ADR. The last one is unusual and a good fit if you have any law, community mediation or conflict-resolution background.
- Submit through the scholarship application page and pay the $16.99 only after you're comfortable with steps 1 to 4.
- Start visa research immediately, in parallel. Don't wait for the award letter. Find your nearest French or Schengen visa center, check appointment wait times and required documents, and gather bank statements and proof of ties to your home country.
If you apply in the last week, you're competing for the same seats with less time to think. Apply by early December if you can.
Competitive reality check, and who this is NOT for
I can't tell you the acceptance rate, because the organizer doesn't publish one. Here is what is public and worth weighing:
- The first edition was small. The Porto summit in September 2026 had 50+ delegates from 45+ nations. Paris is listed at 160 seats, so this is a big jump for a young event. That could mean better odds for you, or it could mean the seats are filled largely by paid categories. The page doesn't say how many of the 160 are fully funded.
- Fully funded, partially funded, forum access and two paid tiers all sit on one page. The paid tiers are $349 (Forum Access Pass) and $749 (Self-Funded Delegate). Paid seats are booked immediately with no selection. Paying the $16.99 does not guarantee selection, and the organizer says so plainly.
- The timing could be tight. The page doesn't give a results date. If decisions land in February, you'd have roughly six weeks to get a Schengen visa. The organizer provides an invitation letter, but visa approval is up to the embassy.
This is probably not for you if:
- You want a master's degree or a long-term funded program. This is a four-day event.
- You can't afford a loss of $16.99 or a possible out-of-pocket flight gap, or a visa refusal.
- You need the "United Nations" name on your CV. GYIS is explicitly not a UN event. It's independent and "inspired by" the SDGs.
- You're expecting to meet specific named officials in Paris. The 2027 speaker roster hasn't been announced. The page only lists who attended Porto.
This could be worth it if you want an international networking experience, a certificate and signatory role to put on an application, and exposure to diplomacy and mediation, and you're comfortable treating it as a small, early-stage event rather than a famous institution.
FAQ
Is the fully funded tier actually free?
Almost. You pay $16.99 as a non-refundable processing fee. Accommodation and meals are covered, but airfare is "support," so confirm the amount in writing.
Do I need IELTS or TOEFL?
No. No language test or qualification is required, though the summit runs in English, so you'll need to be comfortable in discussion.
Can I apply if I already have a master's degree or PhD?
Yes. There's no degree ceiling, only the age range of 15 to 45.
Does paying the fee guarantee me a seat?
No. Selection is on merit, and the fee is non-refundable regardless of outcome.
Will the invitation letter get me a visa?
It supports the application, but approval is the embassy's decision, not the organizer's.
